Work related ill health rates higher than pre-covid levels!

by | 4 Dec, 2023

In 2023 about 1.8 million people reported suffering from work related illnesses and around 49% of those were related to stress, depression and anxiety.

The current work related ill health rate is higher than pre-covid 19 levels.

It is estimated that the current cost of workplace illnesses and injuries is 20.7 billion and there are 35.2 million working days lost. 54% of those lost working days are for stress, depression and anxiety related illnesses.

Reducing workplace injury and ill health especially in relation to Mental Health and Wellbeing is a priority of the Health and Safety Executive.

At Gateway we provide support for organisations to assess the risk profile for occupational health hazards, including work related stress. We use tried and tested approaches to help organisations understand where improvements can be made in supporting the health and wellbeing of their workforce. This is a vitally important aspect for health and safety risk management, improving productivity and performance and supporting a healthy workplace.

We also offer NEBOSH Stress management and Working with Wellbeing training to help understand the contributory factors and interventions that can be developed to reduce the impact of stress.
