BOHS Certificate in Controlling Health Risks in Construction

by | 31 Jul, 2026

Health risks in construction deserve the same attention as safety risks.
Whilst the industry has made significant progress in reducing accidents, occupational ill health remains one of our biggest challenges. Many health conditions develop over time and are entirely preventable when risks are identified and controlled early.

We’ve found the BOHS Certificate in Controlling Health Risks in Construction to be particularly valuable for designers and those who plan and manage construction work. The course provides practical knowledge of the health risks encountered throughout the construction lifecycle and, importantly, how decisions made at the design and planning stages can eliminate or significantly reduce those risks.

The course covers topics including:
✅ Respirable crystalline silica (RCS)
✅ Dusts and fibres
✅ Noise and vibration
✅ Hazardous substances
✅ Manual handling and musculoskeletal disorders
✅ Occupational skin and respiratory diseases

For anyone involved in designing, planning, managing or delivering construction projects, this qualification helps put health at the forefront of decision-making.

At Gateway Health & Safety, we’re passionate about helping organisations give health the same priority as safety. By improving understanding and applying the hierarchy of control, we can prevent occupational disease and create healthier workplaces for everyone.
