Course overview

This module is a reconstruction of a service strike.  This module builds on the awareness of the correct procedures when working around buried services; however, there is an underlying factor of complacency and over familiarisation.

The aims are to get the attendees to recognise:

  • Correct procedures for working around buried services, including; briefings and permits to work, having the correct equipment available, correct scanning techniques, trial hole activities, safe excavation practices
  • Safe practices when working with plant
  • Their role in improving safety on site
  • The importance of a good quality briefing before starting work
  • Recognising changes in the work environment and the importance of reassessing the risks these may introduce
  • The importance of challenging unacceptable standards
  • Improve safety performance; through safety observation reporting

For classroom training there is a maximum of 8 delegates per session.
