Mental Health Awareness Week is the 15th to 21st May and this year’s theme is “Anxiety”
Anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems and a recent study by the Mental Health Foundation that a quarter of adults felt so anxious that it stopped them from doing the things they want to do some or all of the time. It’s important that we all recognise when we are feeling anxious and respond to those feelings, so we don’t become overwhelmed, if we can do this anxiety can be easier to manage.
Hopefully Mental Health Awareness week will provide a platform to start the conversation and encourage people to share experiences and ways to manage anxiety. At Gateway HSW we encourage organisations to use awareness weeks to promote health and wellbeing conversations. To make a real impact this needs to form part of an organisational strategy for health and wellbeing, lead from the top!
