Clare Richardson - BSc (Hons) CMIOSH
I am a chartered health and safety professional with over 25 years experience working in rail/tube engineering, civil engineering, manufacturing, service industries and further education. This experience includes work on large, complex infrastructure projects such as the redevelopment of Birmingham New Street Station and the upgrade of the West Coast Mainline. From these and other contracts, I have gained valuable experience in developing and managing complex arrangements both at a strategic and site-based level.
The application of CDM in complex projects is an area of particular expertise, as is the investigation of accidents and incidents across a broad range of events.
I am a qualified mental health first aider who works proactively to raise the profile and awareness of workplace health hazards to increase its profile to that similar to safety.
I support organisations and individuals in managing occupational health and wellbeing from legal compliance to best practise. This includes mental health, stress management including the real-world application of the HSE stress management standards and the adoption of ISO45003 Psychological Health and Safety at Work.
I am passionate about integrating health, safety and wellbeing into company strategies to deliver business benefit and to ensure the safety of employees and those impacted by works.
My specialist areas of interest are:
- Developing and implementing health and wellbeing strategy
- Integrating health and wellbeing into existing business activities
- Mental health in the workplace

Dr Shelley Stiles - Ba (Hons) MSc CFIOSH
I have over 20 years experience in health and safety management across both public and private sectors.
I have always had a passion for influencing positive health and safety outcomes, seeking to inspire others to make the right choices, to tackle difficult situations and enable positive change through excellence in leadership at every level of an organisation. Whilst I enjoy advising Senior Management on health and safety strategy, I ensure that I remain in touch with the frontline workforce that operate under difficult, ever-changing, pressured, and challenging circumstances. I seek to close the gap between management, workforce and systems throughout my work.
Since 2009, I have worked with Clients, Main Contractors, Designers, Manufacturers and Contractors to lead and support behavioural change programmes striving for a step change in health ad safety culture and behaviours in the workplace. My experience ‘on site’ is supported by my theoretical and academic knowledge, which integrate to make effective solutions focused approach to industry problems. I am often seen as a catalyst for improvement – bringing Executive Directors closer to their managers and the workforce, encouraging them to listen to feedback in order to reduce the paper trail, bureaucracy in order to improve organisational support and a culture of care.
My specialist areas of interest are:
- Health and safety strategy and leadership
- Developing organisational safety culture maturity
- Human factors in the workplace
